Sleep Wrinkles: How you can avoid it

Wrinkles are caused by the expressions we make but do you know that you can also get wrinkles from sleeping?

Reduces Puffy Eyes:

Often, a lack of sleep leads to bloodshot or puffy eyes due to poor circulation. When the area retains fluid, it causes your face to appear slightly swollen. In addition to getting enough hours of shut eye, slightly adjust your sleep position and elevate your neck and head on your pillow.

Prevents Saggy Skin:

Without adequate sleep, your skin may start to sag and the appearance of fine lines will become noticeable due to the lack of plumpness and elasticity. The skin repairs itself overnight and produces collagen to keep the face looking fuller. This natural process is one of the main benefits of sleep for skin as part of preventative care.

When we sleep our skin cells regenerate more quickly. Collagen, the protein responsible for helping your skin keep its volume and elasticity, is produced as the skin cells regenerate. There is also more blood flow to the skin during sleep.

Achieve a More Radiant complexion : Whenever you skimp on sleep, no matter how much or little, the next morning your skin appears duller, lacks colour, and there may be dark circles under your eyes. Sleeping is a way for your body to rejuvenate itself and get the blood flowing to your face.

How to avoid wrinkles when sleeping

  • An easy solution to this is sleeping on your back –  which also has a

few other benefits even if you have to train yourself over time.

But if you prefer to sleep on your side, get a skin-friendly pillow. A satin or

silk pillow minimizes skin irritation and compression while copper-oxide pillowcases may reduce crow’s-feet and other fine lines.

  •  Get a full night of sleep :

The best place to start for your skin — and for your overall health — is to get the recommended amount of rest each night. The results of poor sleep for your skin are numerous and will tell greatly on the skin too. We don’t want to see any trace of wrinkles on that glowing skin.  Cultivate healthy sleeping habits this year.
